Early Childhood & Youth & School

The municipality has a vital role to play in early childhood and youth development by guaranteeing access to quality services (nurseries, schools, leisure centers) that promote equal opportunities from the earliest age.

It also contributes to the well-being, socialization, and independence of children and young people, while supporting families and social cohesion within its territory.

Our Proposals :

  • Guarantee a vegetarian option every day in the city's school canteens;

  • Extend to all young people under 18 the right to participate in the Youth Municipal Council (CMJ);

  • To bring together, at least twice a year, the Municipal Council and the CMJ for the exchange of information and ideas;

  • Provide citizenship training to each new member of the CMJ;

  • Promote the creation of additional places in public nurseries and in associative or cooperative structures;

  • Increase the visibility of support structures for young people in difficulty;

  • Strengthen the local sourcing of meals in school canteens;

  • Encourage the creation of educational vegetable gardens in schools;

  • Propose a similar action to the department and the region in the colleges and high schools of the Pays de Gex;

  • Create supervised walking and cycling bus routes to allow children to get to school safely;

  • Studying for the creation of a People's University of the Pays de Gex.

Inclusion & Social

We must act to promote the social inclusion of the most vulnerable households in order to combat inequality and prevent exclusion.

By developing solidarity initiatives (social assistance, the right to water, access to housing, support towards employment), it fosters social cohesion and equal access to rights for all residents.

Our Proposals :

  • Create a social and solidarity grocery store with very moderate prices promoting social inclusion, in connection with local community organizations;

  • Strengthen our support for the actions of associations that fight against gender-based and sexual violence;

  • Continue to provide social and intermediate housing.

Health

We are all aware of the difficulties facing the healthcare system in the Pays de Gex, linked in particular to its proximity to Switzerland and the rapid increase in the number of residents, resulting in a critical shortage of medical and paramedical staff.

But a responsible municipality must facilitate access to care and preventative services for everyone.

By developing public health, prevention, and regional development initiatives, it contributes to improving quality of life and reducing health inequalities.

Our Proposals :

  • Review the conditions for making the premises of the Health Centre available, in particular by proposing employee status for healthcare professionals in order to reduce the cost of their installation;

  • Explore various avenues for strengthening the healthcare services provided by the Pays de Gex Hospital Centre, including:

    • Diversify the range of specialist consultations

    • to install the nursing assistant training institute there;

  • Facilitating access to property ownership for healthcare workers (Solidarity Real Estate Lease);

  • Promote public health campaigns in elementary schools (awareness against addictions);

  • To propose a municipal or inter-municipal health insurance scheme that would improve access to healthcare at a moderate cost.
